Mountain Hare
The mountain hare, whose fur turns white in winter, can be plentiful in the heather-clad Scottish hills, depending on the success of the breeding season. Teams of walking guns of between 6-10 are the norm with Bags of over 100 hares not being unusual. In order to get full enjoyment of walking up hares on the heather hill a basic level of fitness is required.
Season Dates
Hares can be shot throughout the year on enclosed land and from 1st August – 28th/29th February on moorland and unenclosed land.
